The past few months have been a whirlwind. Since the fire in April, our focus has been on relocating our 2026 clients and figuring out what comes next. Now that we've had a little time to catch our breath, we're ready to start sharing the journey.
Whether you've celebrated here, are planning to, or have simply been following along, we know many of you have been wondering how things are going. We'll use this page to share progress photos, rebuild milestones, design updates, and a behind-the-scenes look at what's ahead.
It's going to take some time, but we're excited to build something that keeps the heart of The Barn on Mullan while making it even better for the future.
April: The First Days
In the early hours of Sunday, April 12, a member of The Ranch Club neighborhood noticed what looked like an unusual haze surrounding The Barn on Mullan. After walking closer to investigate, she saw the patio suddenly glow orange. Moments later, a loud pop echoed through the property as the exterior lights surged and flames became visible.
The fire occurred just hours after our first wedding of the 2026 season. By then, the celebration had long since ended, our staff had finished closing for the night, and the property was empty. While the damage to the venue was devastating, we are incredibly grateful that no one was inside and no one was injured.
The first two days were a blur. Our priority was securing the property, assessing the damage, and contacting the clients and vendors whose events were just days away. As the week went on, we worked through our calendar one event at a time, speaking with event hosts, issuing refunds, touring alternative venues, and doing everything we could to help people move forward despite having very few answers ourselves.
Although the main venue suffered significant damage, there were some bright spots. Our bridal and groom suites, located in a separate building, were untouched. The kitchen addition was protected by a two-hour firewall and, aside from smoke and soot cleanup, the structure remained intact. After inspections, we were thankful to receive approval to restore power, gas, and water to those spaces, allowing Bravo Catering to continue operating while plans for rebuilding the venue began.

April: Cleanout & Next Steps
About a week after the fire, we finally began getting some answers. Investigators determined the fire was accidental, and we learned the venue itself may need to be completely demolished and rebuilt rather than restored. Once the final inspections and contents evaluation were complete, we were finally able to begin the cleanout.
For the first time since the fire, our team could walk through the building and start the difficult process of emptying the venue, kitchen, and basement. Every item had to be sorted, documented, cleaned, or discarded. Anything that could be saved was moved into temporary storage, while everything else was carefully cataloged for insurance.
At the same time, life didn't stop. While some of us spent long days hauling appliances and equipment, others were meeting with architects, contractors, inspectors, and insurance representatives, or helping clients find new venues and make new plans.
It was exhausting work, both physically and emotionally, but it marked an important turning point.
For the first time, we weren't just reacting, we had enough information to begin making small plans.

This was the month we made the difficult decision to officially close the venue for all of 2026. While it wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, it gave every remaining client the opportunity to make new plans as early as possible and allowed our team to focus fully on the rebuild.
With confirmation that the venue would need to be torn down and completely rebuilt, we started making the decisions that would shape its future. We asked ourselves what worked well, what could function better, and how we could preserve everything people loved about The Barn on Mullan while making thoughtful improvements along the way.
Behind the scenes, we were also hard at work preparing the kitchen to return to service. The kitchen and basement were cleaned, repaired, repainted, and fitted with new flooring while replacement equipment began arriving. Our goal was simple: get Bravo Catering back up and running so we could continue serving clients while work on the venue moved forward.
June
June brought some welcome progress. After weeks of cleanup, repairs, and inspections, our kitchen passed all required inspections, allowing us to move out of the temporary food trailer and back into our own space.
We were also grateful to continue serving several larger events that had originally been planned at the venue. While the setting looked different than anyone expected, it meant a great deal to still provide some of the services our clients had planned with us. It was equally rewarding to have our team back doing the work they love after months of uncertainty.
Behind the scenes, planning for the rebuild continued while Bravo Catering settled back into a busy summer season. Architects continued refining plans, equipment continued to make its way back into our storage areas, and conversations about the future of the venue became more tangible.
June didn't bring any major demolition or construction milestones, but it was an important month nonetheless. It reminded us that while the rebuild moves forward, life and business continue too, and both deserve our attention.
